Fresh from his successful stint as this year’s Tony Awards host, How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris is reportedly in talks to host the 61st Emmy Awards on September 20.

Last year, the award show, which celebrates the best achievements in television, was co-hosted by five reality TV mainstays: Dancing with the Stars’ Tom Bergeron, Project Runway’s Heidi Klum, American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest, Deal or No Deal’s Howie Mandel and Survivor’s Jeff Probst. The schizophrenic lineup was lambasted by critics for their poor chemistry and weak jokes.

Harris as the Emmys host would also provide CBS ample opportunity for How I Met Your Mother plugs, which debuts its fifth season on the network the following night.
