American Idol continued its winning ways Tuesday, while NBC’s heavily promoted Parenthood had a modest debut.

Idol drew 23.5 million viewers over its two-hour broadcast and more than doubled its competition among adults 18-to-49, pushing Fox to another overall Tuesday win.

Parenthood, meanwhile, drew 8.1 million viewers, despite NBC’s continuous promotion during the heavily watched Winter Olympics. The show retained most of its Biggest Loser lead-in (8.3 million viewers), which wasn’t much of a boost, considering Loser was down 11 percent from its last episode before the Olympics.

The silver lining for NBC, however, is that Parenthood won the 10/9c timeslot in the demo, which was good enough to move the network to third place overall for the night…
